DSS Attempt To Arrest Apostle Suleman In Ekiti, Fayose Rescues Him To Govt. House (Photo+Video)

Unconfirmed reports have it that last night, a team of DSS operatives stormed a hotel in Ekiti in an attempt to arrest the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleiman.

It took the intervention of Governor Ayo Fayose and his security team to rescue the self styled apostle and bring him to the Ekiti State Government House.

It is believed that Apostle Suleman’s attempted arrest may not be unconnected with his recent “inflammatory” statement, asking Christians to pick up arms and kill Fulanis.

114 youths in Ekiti get 600 Hectares of land

Reports reaching ADELOVE indicate that no fewer than 114 youths are to get about 600 Hectares for crop farming in Ekiti State under the Agriculture Service Provider Programme.

The State Government initiated the programme in partnership with Agro Nigerian Ventures Limited in Ado Ekiti.

Under the ASPP, at least five graduates from each of the16 Local Governments in the state had been trained in farming, especially crops.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti, the Chairman of ANVL, Mathew Ajayi Aderiye, said the collaboration would improve food security in the nation and reduce unemployment among youths.

“We have just trained the 114 youths at the Federal Polytechnics, Ado Ekiti. The programme has changed the thinking of these trainees towards farming. They have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with crops association that wants to make use of their services once they get their power tiller machine.

“They have also signed an agreement with off takers – companies that want to buy their products at harvest – especially maize.

“A company has approached us for 800,000 tonnes of maize and they are looking for people to plant them. They offered the youths to plant two hectares of maize for them. The company will supply the seedlings; so Ekiti would soon become the food basket of the nation.”

Aderiye appealed to the government to give more priorities to farming because Nigeria is blessed with good climate and potential to be among the world best food producers.

Fayose is a liar -Ekiti APC

Ekiti State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described the State Governor, Ayodele Fayose as an “unconscionable liar.”

The state chapter of the party made the claim while reacting to report that Fayose promoted 15,000 workers in the State Civil Service as part of his end of the year package for civil servants.

Thd APC Ekiti State Chapter dismissed the governor’s claim, saying no single worker was promoted “as at the time of writing this press release”.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the party said “no single worker” was promoted in the state, stressing that the governor at best promised promotion to Labour Leaders.

The party also dismissed reports that Fayose paid two months salaries, Christmas bonus and other allowances to workers in the state.

According to the statement, the governor was “just trying to be himself as an unconscionable liar” in his promotion and two months salary payment claims.

Olatunbosun said, “As at the time of writing this press release, no single worker has received any letter of promotion.

“At best, what the governor has done is a promise of promotion to the Labour leaders he assembled at the dilapidated Ikogosi Resort where he begged them to help him mobilise workers to vote for his candidate in the 2018 governorship election with the promise of mass promotion for workers.

“The promise followed similar other one during his governorship campaigns when he asked Ekiti youths to submit their credentials to his campaign office for immediate mass employment if they voted for him.

“But after winning the election, the credentials of the youth found their way to groundnut and roasted plantain sellers, and up till now, none of them has been employed.”

Stressing that, “Nigerians are no longer fooled by Fayose’s lies,” Olatunbosun added, “Fayose never paid two months salaries. What he did was that he paid just one salary for two different months.

“For instance, he paid December salary to a set of workers while he paid July salary to another set, making it just one month salary to all the workers so far paid, but the governor has been fraudulently claiming that he had paid two months salaries.”

He accused the governor of cancelling all promotions made by his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi

Olatunbosun added, “On assumption of office, Fayose cancelled all the promotions approved by former Governor Kayode Fayemi, while he also reversed the appointments of nine permanent secretaries made by Fayemi, some of whom had since retired in frustration.

“Morale is at its lowest in the top echelon of the civil service, as permanent secretaries are no longer appointed on merit but through balloting system that is fraught with fraud whereby the least qualified candidates, who are the governor’s cronies, may be appointed while against service rule, Fayose has stopped Executive Secretaries from being appointed permanent secretaries.

“Besides, we have witnessed mass sack of workers while salaries and running grants of some categories of workers have been reduced in several government’s institutions, including those in the Ekiti State University, while the governor increased his own monthly security vote to N250m.

“Labour unions leaders are regularly victimised and harassed, even as morale is at present at the lowest among the work force while Fayose has also cancelled all local and overseas capacity development training programmes.”

Ekiti 2018: Funmi Falana urges Ekiti women to be active in politics

Mrs. Funmi Falana, wife of , Femi Falana, a renowned Lagos lawyer has said it would be disastrous for Ekiti women to take the back seat as the state prepares for another governorship election in 2018.

Mrs. Falana said Nigerian women must take advantage of the electioneering process to prove a point that they are important and competent like their male counterparts.

She said this was to establish gender equality in the country’s governance and reverse the trend of male chauvinism that is taking root in Nigeria.

Lamenting the non-release of the over 200 chibok girls seized by Boko Haram insurgents, Falana advised President Muhammadu Buhari to expedite action and ensure that all the girls are released from captivity, adding that the failure of government to achieve this will dent the image of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.

She said this in Iyin Ekiti yesterday while donating materials to the Erelu Angela Adebayo Children’s Home to mark the annual gift presentation to the orphanage.

Falana, who described women as the pivot of any nation said: “Women will not take the back seat in Ekiti governorship poll. We are embarking on advocacy programmes through my organisation ‘Women Empowerment and Legal Aids’ to help our women realise their potentials and rights.

“Time has come for women to present themselves for both elective positions and appointments to prove that they are as competent and important as their male counterparts.

“Some used to say that the African culture has not been fair to women.
“I want to believe this is not so, because our culture respects our roles and that is why we had the Iyalodes and the Iyalojas in the old days. So, what women are suffering today are human creations and we have to fight back to reclaim our lost glories,” she stated.

Falana told President Buhari to live up to his promise to free all the Chibok girls, expressing regret that the girls were still being held hostage after two years.

“We thank God that some of them have been released. We are pleading with government not to stop at the level of retrieving them alone, they should give all the girls psychological rehabilitation first.

They must ensure that those that are supposed to go back to schools are helped to realise that.
“There is no gainsaying the fact that these girls need rehabilitation and the support of every Nigerian to recover from this trauma. The government must not abandon them, they should give them scholarships for them to realise their dreams and become a pride to this nation,” she advised.

Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, has once again distributed food items to people in the state in furtherance of his stomach infrastructure programme.

Fayose assured Ekiti people that his administration was very much on course not minding the financial challenge facing it and distractions from the opposition.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, the governor said food items and soup condiments would soon be distributed widely to common people in the state to cushion the effect of economic recession on the people.

“This yuletide season, our stomach infrastructure is going to take care of people from different categories, just as we have started out social security scheme through which ‎10,000 people are paid N5, 000 stipend monthly. We are starting a new scheme of taking care of our teenagers too.

“Next year is going to be a year of celebrating our women and come next March the International Women’s Day will be marked with pomp in Ekiti State. We have to celebrate our women and ensure they are given a place of pride in our state,” he said.

He added that ongoing capital projects would be completed as scheduled, while the welfare of the people of the state would continue to be given top priority.

The governor also urged the people of the state not to be distracted by the rumours and falsehood being peddled by some people who would not see anything good in what his administration is doing.

“We a‎re constantly monitoring all ongoing capital projects and we are satisfied with the pace of work and we are also confident that the time projected to complete them will be met. The flyover in Ado-Ekiti, the new Governor’s Office, the new High Court Complex, the new Ojaba Market will be delivered next year.

“We have paid compensation to those whose buildings and structures were affected by the last phase of the dualisation of Ikere Road. Early next year, we will start work and take the project to the roundabout in the town. Other towns where pro‎jects are ongoing won’t be left unattended to. They will be completed as we are not going to leave any project abandoned.

“Just as we promised, we won’t leave any worker salary unpaid. We are working diligently on that too and to start with, by next year, we are committing N50 million to the provision and renovation of furniture ‎in offices at the State Secretariat. Also, another N50 million is to be spent on the fencing of the state secretariat.

The governor added that those peddling rumours about the money coming to the purse of the state were only being mischievous.

“There is nothing about the finances of the state that is hidden. We are transparent ‎and run a transparent government. Whatever comes to the purse of the state is openly declared apart from the fact that such is published in national dailies,” he stated.

Governor Fayose further solicited the support of the people of the state for his administration, promising to always justify the confidence reposed in him.

Akeredolu gives reason for not mentioning Tinubu in speech, says APC ready to take over Ekiti

Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, Ondo state governor-elect, yesterday explained why he did not mention Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in his victory speech, adding that the All Progressives Congress, APC has now set its sight on taking over the governorship of Ekiti State next year.

Mr. Akeredolu’s assertion was quickly rebuffed by the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose who affirmed that back-to-back victories of the APC in Edo and Ondo had made him wiser on his succession plan. Rotimi Akeredolu Mr. Akeredolu gave his explanation for not acknowledging Tinubu in his speech, following a thank-you visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Earlier in the day he had received his Certificate of Return in Akure. Speaking to State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with Buhari, Akeredolu explained that all the leaders of the APC, including Tinubu were generically acknowledged in his victory speech. He stated that it was pointless mentioning their names specifically. Akeredolu had praised Buhari and national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun in his victory speech last Sunday. The development had elicited reactions, giving the impression of a deepening rift between him and Tinubu who allegedly laboured in futility to replace his candidacy with his godson.

Akeredolu, flanked by deputy governor-elect, Agboola Ajayi,  governorship national campaign committee, Governor Simon Lalong and the Minister of State for Niger Delta, Claudius Daramola explained that all party leaders were acknowledged in his speech.

He said: “I thanked the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the leader of our party profusely for the leadership which they showed and which led to this victory. I also thank our indefatigable chairman for standing by the truth and for his position on this matter that led to this victory. I have no reason to do otherwise. “You see, party structure, to the best of my knowledge is very clear. You have the leadership of the party, and that is represented by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. After the election, a chief executive emerges, he becomes a leader of the party. You don’t have to personalize and be looking for leaders all over the place. If we have to do that, then I will have to mention 36 or 37 leaders.

“So, I believe the leadership as represented by the President covers all leaders and that tells me it would include Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It would include even Baba Akande, (Ogbonnaya) Onu, so many leaders. But President Buhari is the leader of the party. So, that is my position there”.

On his relationship with Tinubu, he said: “The relationship with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has always been the same. I don’t think we have any strained relationship. For me as a person, I believe he is one of the leaders of the party and I don’t see any strained relationship between us. And you will observe that he has sent in his congratulatory message after the election, so what else do you expect?

Asked whether he would probe the Olusegun Mimiko administration, the governor-elect said it was not necessary. “The task ahead of us is enormous for us to start instituting probes. My own is not to institute any probe, and that is what President Buhari has done. But if we find out that wrongs were committed we have enough laws of the land to take care of people who have committed wrongs.
