Here are 10 Nigerian Artistes That Should Retire From Music

Here are 10 musicians we wish will respectful retire from music for the sake of their legacies.

Because we don’t want them to spoil the good memories of them that we have, we therefore urge them to learn another trade and maintain their ‘legendary’ status.

Like they say, all good things must come to an end. For some of these artistes, the end has come for a few years.

Because we really like them and we don’t want the good memories we have of them to be tainted, we’ll like to respectfully recommend them for retirement. There’s no shame in that, is there? Check out the list below:

1. Sound Sultan

You’ve been a mentor and big brother to many artistes. Your songwriting ability has never been in doubt but the arrangement just no dey gel again. As you probably noticed with the cold reception of your seventh album, it’s time to free the music jare.

2. 2face Idibia

When artistes start changing names, you know there’s not much music to give again. And after all of 2baba‘s achievements, who can blame him? Now that his kids are growing up, maybe now is the time to spend more time with them.

3. 9ice

When 9ice decided to enter politics, he knew what he was doing. Being involved in politics is likely to pay him (pun unintended) more than music. 2019 is around the corner. Now is the time to start campaigning o!

4. Ice Prince

When was the last time Ice had a hit? It’s been a long while. He seems to not to be sure of what to do; rap or pop. But Chocolate City has given him his own label, Super Cool Cats. Time to learn how to recruit new stars.

5. Ruggedman

There was a time when Rugged had rhymes, wit and punchlines. But that was long ago. Daddy, take time off, go for vacations, tour the world, and focus more on the clothing business. This rap thing is not ‘werking’ again.

6. D’Prince

To be honest, if it wasn’t for this video Don Jazzy shared on Sunday morning about him going to church with DPrince, most people have completely forgotten about his younger brother.

7. Kayswitch

We are still trying to look for another job description for you sir; since the only biography you had went with Mo’Hits Records.

8. D’banj

At this juncture, it is clear to the Kokomaster that he needs to pay more attention to his agric ventures and forget about music. There’s nothing to prove anymore- he’s not very good at making hits anymore.

9. Banky W

Thank God he knows how to direct now; perhaps it’s time to join Kemi Adetiba, and possibly feature in more movies. If that was good enough for Will Smith who left his somewhat lukewarm music career for Hollywood, then it’s most definitely good for Mr Capable.

10. Ill Bliss

The self acclaimed ‘Oga Boss’ who is only a boss at Capital Hill. Phyno has gone. Chidinma has gone. Even Suspekt has moved on. On behalf of Nigeria new school youths, we award you the permission to retire. Those two Headies plaque were retirement gifts in disguise, just in case you didn’t know.

The comedian shared this photo of himelf rocking agbada and wrote;

“I hereby declare myself the president of the federal republic of Nigeria (online) . There are two Nigerias: one in reality, the other in virtual reality. (Social media) i will be running a unitary system of government but at the same time allow for a confederal state.

This means you are welcome to declare yourself governor of your state or minister of any ministry you are passionate about. But I remain the only president until I declare elections online very soon. This is a government of the people so feel free to let us know ur problems (online) and we will solve them online. In this govt, tribe, religion, region or creed doesn’t count. As long as you’re Nigerian, u are qualified. Worship your god as u like but don’t use it to disturb another. We run a simple life here in Nigeria (online). If ur street is untarred for example, report ur local govt chairman or commissioner for works or Gov or minister to me. This is a govt of accountability. Long live the federal republic of Nigeria (online)”

She claims that he died from a drug overdose was false and she believes it is “obvious” to all his family and true fans.

In regards to the rumours that her father could possibly have been murdered, she responded:

“It’s obvious”.”All arrows point to that. It sounds like a total conspiracy theory and it sounds like bulls**t, but all real fans and everybody in the family knows it. It was a setup. It was bulls**t.”

When asked who could have wanted to kill her father, she said “a lot of people” had issues with him. She continued:

“Of course I want justice”. “I definitely do, but it’s a chess game. “And I am trying to play the chess game the right way. And that’s all I can say about that right now.”

18 year old Paris added that her father was paranoid that there were mysterious people who were “out to get him”.

“And at some point he was like, ‘They’re gonna kill me one day,'” she said.

She also talked about how suicidal she was in her teenage years, admitting that she’d tried to commit suicide several time by the time she was finally hospitalised for a residential therapy programme.

She added that her mental health deteriorated after she was sexually assaulted by a stranger when she just 14 years old.

“I don’t wanna give too many details,” she told the magazine, “but it was not a good experience at all, and it was really hard for me, and, at the time, I didn’t tell anybody.”
