How Buhari “shed tears” after hearing how an individual stole N3.1bn

Reports have it that President Muhammadu Buhari, last week, almost broke to tears when it was brought to his attention that a whopping $16 billion of the nation’s crude oil revenue loss could be traced to some sharp practices by some individuals in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

According to newsmen, the quantum of funds in question are revenue that ought to have accrued to the Federal Government of Nigeria through oil-lifting deals which are now subject of intensive investigations. Specifically, one of the arrow heads of the crude oil lifting scam, who has been invited and interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, at least twice before, has been granted administrative bail, and “who is alleged to be warehousing a sizable chunk of the money, drew the ire of Mr. President”, an Aso Rock Presidential Villa source disclosed.

Aso Rock insiders told newsmen that the funds were “supposed to be proceeds from some of the crude oil sold on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria by these people and for which they were said not to have made the necessary returns to the coffers of the country”. Continuing, one of the sources said: “You needed to have been there. You needed to have seen Mr. President. He was almost moved to tears at the colossal fraud that had taken place in the country.

“But Mr. President has ordered that every kobo must be recovered. Whatever it takes, he has made it clear that those funds must be recovered.”

  1. HE IS CRYING FOR EVERY NIGERIAN WHO’S BITHRIGHT HAS BEEN VIOLATED, how come we cannot feel what God is doing for Nigeria through this? This man could have been resting with whatever he already has and keep quiet forever (Amori Ibaa ku)…..those who stole Nigeria’s heritage did not only steal yours, they have stolen your children’s heritage forever SHALL WE BE COWARDS AND NOT SUPPORT THIS GOVERNMENT THAT HAS MADE A CHOICE TO STOP THE SYPHONING OF OUR BIRTHRIGHT…….? O Nigerians disappoint me by comments that are too callous!!!!!

    1. @Tunde I agree with your comment to a certain extent. I find the tears to be crocodile tears because when a person is upset at the brazen theft going on it must be total. That is why a good number of us are quite skeptical. This is the same man that said Abacha isn’t a thief. This week Switzerland will return another $325 million out of $4 billion stolen by one man. Our President has never condemned his action. In fact he said the man is not a thief. To support this, Abacha’s children were hobnobbing in the villa with the Buhari’s and even took pictures which were posted on Linda Ikeji. So excuse me if I find this hypocritical in the least. If you are against stealing it must be ALL stealing and not some!

      1. Ed you are clearly not Ibo. Your comment doesn’t even sound like one. Do not generalize. It is wrong! Is it not your people that are topping Waec for the past couple of years? Why belittle everyone? It is wrong. People from all sides have genuine concerns in this biased fight. I am for prosecuting any thief but it must not be their thief and this is our thief who shouldn’t be touched!

    2. Shina it isn’t just Ibos that are skeptical. A good number of Yorubas and others are too. We say we are fighting corruption right?? The most corrupt ex governor is sitting in Lagos. Amaechi was accused of stealing away from his state, close to N70 billion. Numerous petitions have been written and not one invitation from the authorities. So corruption clearly depends on who is in power and that is why so many people are sceptical. If we are fighting corruption then it must be total and not biased. Mind you, I am not a member of any party.

  4. It is genuinely bizarre to condemn an administration for prosecuting a certain thieves from a particular tribe, the question is, “are they thieves? If the answer is yes then let’s be glad that the thieves are however reducing in Nigerian economy. Justice is on the chase if it doesn’t catch up with them today it will catch up with them tomorrow. None of this people will go unpunished that is my stand!

  6. It might take well over 2 years b4 this administration can start building something tangible for the country. The system is deep into corruption. And it can not be handled in just few months.
The president is still on course.

  10. My brothers and sisters, enough of fighting one another, which we have just started to do even on this small platform ……… we are all people of a Nation and that is the most important truth.

If you want to divide even Ibo further, you can say, this one is Anambra, or Imo etc, we can divide even further, Imo into Mbaise, Mbano etc, I can even divide Mbaise to community level and community to compound, compound to family to 1st born and last born…….see we have very many reasons to fight each other……. and that applies to every tribe…..let us stop this….PLEEEEEEAAAAASE, I am also hurting as I write this.

THIS IS THE CURSE OF DIVIDE AND RULE; we all lose in the end and that is their conspiracy! We have been ruled and robbed by leaders who use divide and rule.
The Bible says “A house divided against itself cannot stand” Mark 3:25

please let us start the movement of optimism, we are more connected than our ego, tribalism and religious bigotry would allow us to see.

I know one thing for sure, this people (people in power today) are not themselves anymore……GOD ALMIGHTY has arrested them and he will only use the person that can do this job and GOD IS THE ONE THAT CHOSE BUHARI, we will understand very soon.

please let us pray for This government, it is not about Buhari, it is about GOD who has finally stepped in and GOD has the final say!

    Long Live Nigeria.

    Your brother
    Tunde

  12. Well done Tunde, let’s just continue to pray for d president, at least he has started from a point. Yes it’s good to reflect back, but by then he was still in playing open field and may not really know d depth of what d situation is. But l’m sure all his actions now or efforts only came to his consciousness when he was out of the field to become a spectator like most of us. A spectator play better football than the footballers themselves or have you not seen that. Just watch.
